The Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation has issued a notice explaining the changes to the workers’ compensation exemption process that the Legislature recently passed and the Governor signed into law. The changes will streamline the filing and processing of exemption applications and went into effect July 1st, 2012. The highlights of the changes are as follows
- The application no longer has to be notarized
- Applicant’s no longer have to provide stock certificates proving 10% ownership
- SSN are no longer required, instead use a Florida Driver’s license number, or Florida ID card number.
- Exemption holders can now print out a copy of their exemption certificate online at www.myfloridacfo.com/WC/exemption.html
